September 2014

  • Tue, 09/16/2014 (All day) - Thu, 09/18/2014 (All day)

Join Connecticut’s only zoo at New England’s biggest celebration! Visit us in the Connecticut building at Booth 33 and don’t forget September 17th is Connecticut Day at the Big E! Location: 1305 Memorial Ave, West Springfield, MA. For more information, visit www.thebige.com

  • Wed, 09/17/2014 - 7:00pm - 8:00pm

The Zoo's evening lecture series engage audiences of all ages, especially lifelong learners, who have an appetite for delving deeper into the wonders of wildlife. Attending these programs allows visitors to live vicariously through our experts, who often have had incredible close encounters with creatures across the globe. Sam Fried spent a week in Churchill, Manitoba, expecting to see ice, snow, bears and winter birds. It turned out differently than planned, leading to a lot of questions and not many good answers. What happens to the polar bears of Hudson Bay when the bay doesn't freeze on time? And what happens to the birds that are migrating in and out of Churchill. Join us for an evening of spectacular photos, some answers and more questions. $5 suggested donation. Refreshments will be served. Location: Hanson Exploration Station. Sponsored by Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo Volunteer Association.
