Come Party with the Animals This Winter!
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – December 21, 2011 — Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo, the state’s only zoo, is pleased to release its calendar for late December through February 2012. The Zoo offers fun events for the entire family all year round, most of which are free with the cost of admission. Calendar subject to change without notice. Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo is closer than you think! The Zoo is open every day from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Adult admission (ages 12 & older) is $12.00, children (ages 3 -11) and senior admission (62 and older) is just $10.00, and children under 3 years old and Zoo members are admitted free. Parking at the Zoo is free of charge.
HOLIDAY 2011 SCHEDULE
The Zoo will be open for half days on the day BEFORE Christmas and New Year’s Eve. The last visitor will be admitted at Noon and the doors will close at 1:00 pm.

Monday and Tuesday - Café and Carousel closed
Wednesday thru Friday - Café and Carousel open at 10:00 am and close at 3:00 pm
Monday thru Friday - Gift Shop opens at 10:00 am and closes at 3:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday Café - Carousel and Gift Shop open at 9:00 am and close at 4:00 pm

Get ready to ring in the New Year at the Zoo with half price admission! Viktor, our adorable tiger cub born in 2004, is all grown up and he’s come home for the holidays. Help us welcome him back to Bridgeport and, while you’re at it, say hello to our two new Maned wolves, two new lynx, baby pronghorn, and rare Chacoan peccary piglet, too!
January 16, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
The Zoo is honoring the civil rights leader’s life and achievements by offering $5.00 admission today.
February 4, Asian New Year Celebration, 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Join your Zoo friends in celebrating the Year of the Dragon with special stories, crafts, a children’s parade, and many more fun activities. Snow date is February 11.
February 11, Summer Internship Application Deadline
Internships are available for college level students in Animal Care, Education, or Veterinary Care. An application and program details may be found on our Web site under Get Involved; Volunteer; Interns.
February 11, Wild at Heart Event 2012, 6:30 pm – 10:00 pm
Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo invites you to add a little Wild to your Valentine’s Day at our Wild at Heart Event 2012. Indulge yourself with food, drink, animal encounters, entertainment, and a fabulous silent auction with lots of love! Dress up in your finest cocktail attire and treat yourself to tantalizing appetizers served alongside a pasta station. For a sweet ending to the night, enjoy chocolate fondue courtesy of The Melting Pot in Darien. NOTE: This is an adults only event. $75 per person / $125 per couple. Tickets are limited. Visit our Tropical Winter Greenhouse
Enjoy a visit to a tropical paradise at our Victorian Greenhouse. As you stroll through, you can see several species flowering. It’s a short walk through another world! Free with Zoo admission.
