Event Name:

Evening Lecture Series: Coyotes in Connecticut

Date:
Wed, 07/16/2014 - 7:00pm - 8:00pm
Description:

The Zoo's evening lecture series engage audiences of all ages, especially lifelong learners, who have an appetite for delving deeper into the wonders of wildlife. Attending these programs allows visitors to live vicariously through our experts, who often have had incredible close encounters with creatures across the globe. This month, Chris Vann, nuisance wildlife biologist for the DEEP, will discuss the growing population of coyotes in Connecticut, the risks they pose, and popular misconceptions about them. He will also examine the coyote’s migration from the Midwest, breeding with the Grey Wolf along the way, resulting in many eastern coyotes containing wolf DNA, and explain why Connecticut coyotes are larger than western ones. $5 suggested donation. Refreshments will be served. Location: Hanson Exploration Station. Sponsored by Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo Volunteer Association.
