BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – May 24, 2014 - Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo is pleased to release its calendar for Maythrough August 2014. The Zoo has fun events for the entire family all year round, most of which are free with the cost of admission. Calendar subject to change without notice. Please check BeardsleyZoo.org or Facebook for the most up to date information.Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo is closer than you think and open daily from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Adult admission (ages 12 & older) is $14.00, children (ages 3 -11) and senior admission (62 and older) is just $10.00, and children under 3 years old are free. Zoo members also are admitted free. Parking at the Zoo is free of charge.

JUST CONFIRMED! May 24: Farmin’ Fever with Chris Rowlands, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm
Join Chris Rowlands as he tells the story of agriculture and life on the farm through his original, child-friendly music. Chris is famous for getting everyone involved through singing and dancing – even bringing kids up on stage with him! Come learn about Connecticut’s “pick your own” farms, too! Sponsored by the Fairfield County Farm Bureau. 
 
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! May 25 and 26: Family Favorite Chris Rowlands LIVE, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm daily
Famous for getting everyone involved, Rowlands brings animals to life through kid-friendly songs, dance, puppets, and colorful props. Chris creatively blends music, comedy, and education to create fast paced, interactive shows that teach and inspire young people. Children are invited to wear fun hats and sing along with Rowlandson stage as he shares his self-penned songs about animals and their environment. Free with paid admission to the Zoo. Each performance is 30-35 minutes long.

Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo is proud to invite allMilford residents to come to the Zoo for a reduced admission fee of just $5 with proper I.D. Meet and greet with town officials, business and civic leaders, friends, and neighbors during a fun filled day for the whole family. Spend the day visiting new animals at the Zooand enjoying the great outdoors. This event is presented in partnership with the Town of Milford.

NEW!June 7 Animal Enrichment Day from 11-3:00
Come learn and play! This fun day will include Keeper talks and special displays with animal enrichment items! Meet many of the Zoo’s volunteers as you play games with some of the same toys that the animals play with and learn if any animals have favorite. You may even get a chance to make enrichment items for some of the Zoo animals. Come be a part of the Fun!!
 
June 7: Wild Wine, Beer & Food Safari, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Join us for a fabulous night of great fare from local vendors and tastings of 100 different wines and over 60 different beers from around the world and close to home. There will be great live music, an amazing silent auction, and much more! Hosted by Stepney Wine of Monroe & Black Rock Wine of Fairfield. $55 each for groups of four or more; $60 for individual tickets; $65 at the door (if available). Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo is celebrating all dads today. Spend quality time with dad this Father’s Day – join him at the Zoo today and he gets in FREE!While at the Zoo, be sure to visit some of our animal dads, Rizzo the North American otter, Hamton the Guinea hog, and D.J. the Pronghorn, to name a few.
 
June 18: Evening Lecture Series: Bengali Beasts, 7:00 pm
Join guest lecturer Jennie Miller as she explores tiger / human conflicts in India and the creative and scientific solutions helping to conserve one of our planet’s most endangered cats. $5 suggested donation. Refreshments will be served. This lecture, taking place in the Hanson Exploration Station, is part of the Evening Lecture Series, sponsored by Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo Volunteer Association.

Rainforest Reptile Shows (www.rainforestreptileshows.com) features exotic crawlers, unusual slitherers, and fascinating creepers, all of which are creatures of the rainforest. Experience direct contact with live animals, artifacts, and fascinating stories about these unusual animals and their natural habitats. Tues – Thurs: two shows daily; Fri – Sun: three shows daily. Performance times TBA. Free with paid admission to the Zoo.
 
July 4: Red, White, & Blue Animal Scavenger Hunt, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
This self-guided hunt will challenge visitors to find all of the animals sporting patriotic colors. (Ex. red wolf, white swans, (blue) poison dart frog) - and many more! Enjoy a special "Animal Bytes" presentation about the American Bald Eagle.

This session of Zoo Patrol offers children ages 6 – 8 the opportunity to participate in keeper talks, behind-the-scenes tours, animal related games, and crafts. Our zookeepers are both educators and wildlife ambassadors who not only keep our animals healthy and happy but also teach our visitors about conservation. About Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo
Unplug and explore Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo! Connecticut's only zoo features 300 animals representing primarily North and South American species. Visitors won't want to miss our Amur (Siberian) tigers and leopard, Brazilian ocelot, Mexican wolves, and Golden Lion tamarins. Other highlights include our South American rainforest with free-flight aviary, the prairie dog exhibit with "pop-up" viewing areas, the New England Farmyard with goats, cows, pigs, sheep, and other barnyard critters, plus the hoofstock trail featuring bison, pronghorn, deer, and more. Visitors can grab a bite at the Peacock Café, eat in the Picnic Grove, and enjoy a ride on our colorful, indoor carousel.
