Plants That Support Life at the Zoo
Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo is home to more than just animals. Our plant collections are an essential part of every habitat. Many of the species you’ll see throughout the Zoo are native to the same environments as our animals, helping recreate natural ecosystems and support their wellbeing. You can explore these plants within animal habitats or get a closer look inside our Greenhouse, where we cultivate a wide variety of species, some of which are rare or endangered, just like the animals they help sustain.
