Wax Plant
The Wax Plant, native to Eastern China, Japan, Peninsular Malaysia, Taiwan, and Vietnam, is a climbing or trailing perennial in the dogbane and milkweed family. It is known for its glossy, dark green, fleshy leaves and clusters of fragrant flowers. Each bloom forms a tight, rounded cluster of star-shaped white flowers with red centers, creating a striking and delicate display.
Habitat
Typically found in tropical and subtropical forests, where it grows as a climbing or trailing plant on trees and other supports.
Family Life
Wax Plants grow by climbing or trailing along structures, often wrapping counterclockwise around supports. They also thrive in hanging baskets, where their stems cascade downward. Flower clusters may contain 10–30 individual blooms and appear during the summer months.
Life Span
Long-lived perennial; can thrive for many years with proper care.
Status
Not endangered; widely cultivated as an ornamental plant.
